Thematic Workshops for 2026/27
Background:
The school has been appointed by the Education Bureau as a Resource Centre since 2003. Through the "School Partnership Scheme," we share teaching expertise with mainstream schools, establish support networks, and facilitate technical transfers to enhance skills in educating students with special educational needs. Over the past two decades, we have built strong partnerships with mainstream schools in the Hong Kong Island district.
Thematic Workshops (Target: Supporting Students with Intellectual Disabilities):
In the 2026/27 academic year, the school will offer three thematic workshops to support mainstream school teachers and teaching assistants in developing teaching techniques and attitudes for students with special educational needs, enhancing their professional knowledge. The workshop topics and details are as follows:
- Using Sensory Integration Support and Diversified Teaching Strategies to Accommodate Learning Differences in Students with Intellectual Disabilities. (November 25, 2026, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM)
- How to Support the Development of Students with Intellectual Disabilities in Academic, Leisure, and Vocational Planning. (March 16, 2027, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM)
- How to Enhance Positive Behavior and Emotional Expression in Students with Intellectual Disabilities and Provide Support for Parents. (June 30, 2027, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM)
Following each workshop, the school will arrange one session of an Open Lesson for teachers and teaching assistants who participated in the thematic workshops. This allows them to observe lesson practices firsthand, deepening their understanding of relevant teaching strategies and techniques. The "Open Classroom" sessions will be held within four weeks after each thematic lecture.
Short-term Attachment Programme:
The school offers a short-term attachment programme for students referred by schools. Through a three-month attachment programme, the programme aims to enhance students' social, communication, self-care, and self-management skills, supporting their integration into regular school life.
For those interested in this programme, please contact the designated person during office hours to arrange follow-up.
